Tuesday 13th July 2005 -- Dallas Masterton, the proprietor of the Bookshop has decided to step down after running the Bookshop for a number of years having taken over from Nancy John in 2000.
Jerz Jurkiewicz is to take over the Bookshop with effect from 1st August
2005.
Jerz has a passion for books and has longed for the opportunity to run his own
bookshop to support the thousands of books that he has at home!
"I am simply taking over from where Dallas has left off and I will endeavor to add to the excellent relationships that Dallas has built over the years. I have a few surprises up my sleeve such as this website, and with the Bridge at St Sampsons, a hive of activity, especially since the opening of the new marina, I would to develop the stock to include other products such as marine books and maps. I would also like to provide more helpful and practical computer and handheld pc guides - handbooks that are simple and easy to use, not books that gather dust because they are too difficult to handle".
"I am acutely aware how important children's educational requirements are, especially from a parent's point of view. It is difficult to keep up with and understand what children need. I will be looking at providing the best possible products for parents, especially those that are easy to understand and use, from a parent and child's point of view!. I am also very aware how important it is to work closely with schools, colleges and libraries in order to satisfy their requirements and provide the information and services they require"
The Bookshop will be closing for a short period from 23rd of July 2005 for some re-oganisation and refurbishment and will reopen on Saturday 3rd September 2005 when we hope to welcome back both old and new customers.
